Scripture Text (NRSV)

Wisdom of Solomon 3:1-9

3:1 But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them.

3:2 In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died, and their departure was thought to be an affliction,

3:3 And their going from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace.

3:4 For though in the sight of men they were punished, their hope is full of immortality.

3:5 Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them worthy of himself;

3:6 like gold in the furnace he tried them, and like a sacrificial burnt offering he accepted them.

3:7 In the time of their visitation they will shine forth, and will run like sparks through the stubble.

3:8 They will govern nations and rule over peoples and the Lord will reign over them forever.

3:9 Those who trust in him will understand truth, and the faithful will abide with him in love, because grace and mercy are upon his elect, and he watches over his holy ones.

Other may see us as fools, but fools for Christ we are.

The writer of this highly respected wisdom volume offers a glorious vision of the righteous resting at peace in the hand of God.

WISDOM

There's a time to live,there's a time to die, Theres a time to laugh,there's a time to cry, There's a time to sit and a time to stand, There's a time to ask and a time to command, There's a time to fight and there's a time to run, Why there's a time for everything under the sun, When your young you should understand, To let God be God and do the best you can, Then when you're older and your eyes they fade, You can look back on life and the decisions made, Then you'll see that in life's futility, you had a purpose and great destiny.

People put their trust in many things, one in wealth or power of one form or another, another one in astrology or some other momentary lie never really knowing it's dead already.

Yet those who put they're trust in God will always be upheld by His mighty love, grace and power.

You may call me strange, you may call me odd, but I'd rather be a fool in the eyes of man than a fool in the eyes of God.
