The grace and lovingkindness of our Savior Jesus Christ, Word made flesh, born of the virgin Mary, be with you all.
And also with you.
Let us pray. Almighty God, you have filled us with the new light of the Word who became flesh and lived among us. Let the light of our faith shine in all that we do; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Filled with joy at the birth of the one sent to save us, let us offer our prayers to God who gives us peace and hope.
Merciful giver, as you lavishly pour upon us the riches of your grace, cause us to overflow in thanks, offering hope to a world caught in the clutches of sin and death. God of our salvation,
have mercy and hear us.
We pray for the world and its peoples, that this new year may be one of greater prosperity for those who are poor, increased justice for those who lack it, and a full measure of peace for all. God of our salvation,
have mercy and hear us.
We pray for all who journey in the wilderness of grief, despair, and sickness (especially). Transform their mourning to dancing, give them gladness for their sorrow, and guide us in ministering to those who call upon you. God of our salvation,
have mercy and hear us.
We pray for this congregation, your adopted sons and daughters in this place who have been marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit in baptism. Help us to find strength to give up worldly desires for the sake of all whom you love. God of our salvation,
have mercy and hear us.
We bless you for the saints who set their hope on you and now rest in your loving arms (especially). May their witness lead us also to live and die for the praise of your glory. God of our salvation,
have mercy and hear us.
Grant us these prayers, almighty Father, in the name of your Word made flesh dwelling among us, Jesus Christ our Lord.
