BLOW YOUR MIND

Samuel Chapter 21:12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.13 And he changed his behavior before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.14 Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?15 Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?

In the early 1950’s a struggling songwriter named Willie Nelson sold a song called crazy to the producers of Patsy Cline for $35.00 Since then that one song has defined Patsy Cline as an entertainer and has made millions of Dollars. Poor Willie has been kicking himself ever since.

The New World DICTIONARY Defines "crazy" as: unsound of mind, eccentric, mentally unbalanced, deranged, psychopathic, and insane.

Our modern culture has tons of synonyms for this dreaded condition as well as the behavior that it produces:  He's a lunatic, madman, he's gone nuts, bananas, coocoo, screwy, loco, ape, berserk, ballistic, mental, postal, freaked out, he's out of his mind, out of his gourd, he's on another planet, he's in his own world, he's gone off the deep end, he has a screw loose, he's section 8, there's bats in the belfry, he's 3 bricks shy of a load, he's sick in the head, his elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top, the lights are on but nobodies home

We have funny little sayings like “out of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most” “I would rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy”

TREATMENTS: Shock treatment, rubber rooms, straitjackets, lithium, opium, thorazine, prozac, counseling and all kinds of therapy, regression therapy, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, 12 steps programs by psychologist psychotherapist, psychiatrist, counselors advisors, mentors, guides right down to me your local clergyman.

We've known so many people that are crazy. There's Crazy Ray, Crazy legs Hersch, crazy Horse, Mad max, the mad hater RENFIELD, the rain man. I have never known a teenage boy that wasn’t girl crazy,

Local heroes like the guy in AUSTIN that climbed the tower and shot everybody. During his autopsy it was discovered that he had a brain tumor.  Charles Manson, Al Capone went crazy in Alcatraz having the last stages of syphilis Nero, Hitler, Stalin, Charles Hinkly JR who was found innocent by reason of insanity. But when you think of all these deranged individuals, I bet you there is somebody that we all know that you don't think of.

Turn to 1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

The natural man (KJV): [Psuchikos <Strong's G5591>], the animal man, one who lives in a natural state, and under the influence of his animal passions; for [psuche]--the animal mind you-- takes a crazy man, puts him in a room full of 18 carrot gold bars . . .and all he will want to do is play with the dust in the sunlight. When God talks about a natural man he is literally calling him crazy.  Einstein, the most brilliant, profound, and ingenious intellect in his natural state is crazy .

When I think of somebody completely out of their mind and acting like an animal I think of terrible diseases such as rabies.

The Encarta Dictionary says of rabies that in the early stages in humans depression and anxiety are common. This initial stage lasts for about two days. In the next stage, the period of excitation, the patient becomes irritable and hypersensitive; the general attitude is one of terror, intensified by the onset of difficult breathing and swallowing and a feeling of strangulation, caused by spasmodic contractions of the diaphragm and larynx. The patient is extremely thirsty but experiences spasms of the larynx when water is presented or even mentioned, whence the original name of the disease, hydrophobia Fear of water (Greek hydor, “water”; phobos, “fear”).

Jesus told a woman standing near a well (John 4) that He was the Living Water and whoever drank of that Living Water would never be thirsty again.

If you present Jesus Christ to this generation you will see what happens.  Even if you just mention the name of Jesus you'll see what happens!  Let the heathen rage and let the wicked foam you.  Ever seen pictures of man with rabbis who is foaming at the mouth?  One who is out of his mind and acting like an animal?  such a man is on the verge of death itself! That's the perfect picture of an animal mind.   That's the perfect picture of a natural man and that's the perfect picture of you and me without the Spirit of God.

The natural man, in his animal mind . . . 

(1) can't receive the things of God and doesn’t know that they even exist.  Just like the crazy man in the room full of Gold.

(2) he’s ruled by fear and passion just like any animal wondering about.

(3) he's easily offended just like the hypersensitive people with rabbis.

(4) he is enraged at the very mention of the name of Jesus and blasphemes with everything within him just like the man that has lost his mind in the last stages of that terrible disease terrified of the water that can save him and foaming at the mouth.

(5) this man is crazy and God knows what he's talking about

 

I once took a crazy man to Long John Silvers.  He wanted to borrow my father in law's false teeth so that he could eat with us. I don't want to be classified in the same file as this guy is, but God Almighty says all of us have a lunatic mind and that's what every natural man or animal mind has; and that's what you’ve got to deal with.

1 Cor 3:14-16 says: " But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ."

God doesn’t leave us in that state, at the time that you are born again, there's a spiritual lobotomy that takes place and God gives you a mind that is higher than the mind of man; this new mind has authority over the mind of man.  God gives you the mind  of Christ (Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus).

ISA 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Lam 3:21 " This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope."

Romans 8:27 " And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

It is the mind that makes the difference: Romans 12:12:1 " I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Romans 14:5 Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. Romans 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

All through 2 Corinthians it talks about having a ready mind this is a part of the mind of Christ it means to be teachable.  The mind of Jesus was unlike the animal mind of the natural man in that he was teachable;  that's why the Father could show all things to him. The natural mind can not know the things of the Lord; he is unteachable.

The Mind of Christ also has the mark of humbleness:

Eph 4:17 " This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: because of the pride in their minds have no understanding, they are alienated from the life of God."

Romans 8:7 " Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: the mind of Christ loves God and welcomes his thoughts and his understanding and his wisdom."

Phil 2:3 " Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."

Col 3:12 " Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering."

2 Tim 1:7 " For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

1 Peter 1:13 " Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ."
