Call to Worship (based on Psalm 29)

L: Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
P: Ascribe to the LORD the glory of his name; worship the LORD in holy splendor.
L: The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over mighty waters.
P: The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
L: The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
P: May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!

Call to Worship

L: We come from full lives to gather in this place before God.
P: We come from lives filled with anxieties and concerns, fears and loss.
L: We gather as pilgrims seeking our way through a thicket of motives and intentions, through a wilderness of sins and misdeeds.
P: Finding our way alone is impossible; even together we cannot find our way.
L: Let us lift up our eyes and behold the Lord high and lifted up,
All: And sing with the seraphim, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”

Invocation:

Father, you sent your Word to bring us truth and your Spirit to make us holy. Through them we come to know the mystery of your life. Help us to worship you, one God in three Persons, by proclaiming and living our faith in you. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of Confession for Trinity Sunday:

Almighty and Eternal God, we gather in a spirit of joy to worship Your Holy Name and declare the mystery of the Trinity. For we have felt the Your spirit blow through our lives. We celebrate your blessings, the magnificence of your mercy and the moments when your grace has touched our lives and brought depth and meaning to our living. May your spirit breathe life and energy into our worship. May it stir within us that our hearts and minds will respond to your liberating and redeeming Word.

At the same time, gracious God, we remember that we are not the people you would have us be. Silently we offer up the thoughts, emotions and actions that have created a sinful spirit and separated us from your grace and goodness. Forgive our failings, our weaknesses and our shortcomings. Erase them from our hearts and create within us a new spirit so devoted to your ways that we respond to your call to reach out and touch the lives of others in service to your son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. May your precepts guide us, your Holy Spirit sustain us, and your Son show us the way to discipleship and wholeness of life. Amen

Short Trinity Sunday Prayer:

Holy God, you have given us grace, by the confession of the faith of your holy church,
to acknowledge the mystery of your divine mystery of the eternal Trinity and, in the power of your divine majesty, to worship the Unity.

Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship,
and bring us at last to see in your eternal glory
One God, now and forever. Amen.

Long Trinity Sunday Prayer:

We praise Thee, O God, for having made known to us the great mystery of the Holy Trinity. Thou has granted the privilege of worshiping Thee as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, three divine Persons in one unchanging God.

We worship Thee, O God the Father. Thou hast created us and given us the gift of life. Thou hast sustained us through the years with the gifts of Thy love.  Thou has protected us in danger and guided us safely to this day.  For all these gifts we praise and thank Thy holy name.

We worship Thee, O God the Son. Thou wast slain and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood. Thou hast hidden our sins with the robe of Thy righteousness. Thou hast covered our unworthiness with Thy merit.  Thou didst become the Son of Man that we might become the children of God.  For all these gifts we praise and thank Thy Holy name.

We worship Thee, O God the Holy Ghost. Thou hast given us the gift of faith so that we know Jesus Christ as our Savior from sin and death and hell. Thou hast given us the assurance of the forgiveness of our sins through Him. Thou hast cheered us with the hope of heaven in Christ. For all these gifts we praise and thank Thy holy name.

O Holy Trinity, preserve us always in body and soul until we stand at the last in joyful awe and wonder before Thy throne to praise Thee in the fullness of joy, world without and. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

Everlasting God, you have revealed yourself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and ever live and reign in the perfect unity of love.
Grant that we may always hold firmly and joyfully to this faith, and, living in praise of your divine majesty, may finally be one in you; who are three persons in one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Benediction (based on the lesson from 2 Cor 13):

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all, now, and forevermore. Amen.
